Why trailer theft insurance is a good idea
Our basic coverage is pure theft protection: if your trailer is stolen, or if it suffers damage during a failed theft attempt, we step in. You’re covered in Denmark, the EU, and the EEA as well as in countries under the Green Card scheme. You can take your trailer abroad for up to six months per year.
If you want coverage for other types of damage to your trailer, you’ll need to choose comprehensive insurance instead, which offers much broader protection than theft alone. Read more about comprehensive trailer insurance.
What is trailer theft insurance?
Theft insurance covers when your trailer is stolen, and when it sustains damage due to attempted theft. The coverage also applies if, for example, you’ve lent your trailer to a neighbour. However, if you rent out your trailer for payment, your insurance will unfortunately not cover it.
Remember: when your trailer is not in use, it must be locked with a trailer lock – a small detail that makes a big difference to your compensation. If the trailer is stolen without having been locked, you risk losing your right to – or having reduced – compensation.
In case of theft: report it to the police immediately and keep the case number.

Cargo on the trailer - The items you transport on the trailer are not covered.
Rental - We do not cover theft or damage if your trailer is rented out for payment.
Lack of security - Not using a trailer lock, or using it incorrectly, may reduce or remove compensation.
Left in public or remote places - Risky parking may lead to reduced coverage.
Damage to the trailer - Theft insurance does not cover damage to the trailer itself unless it has been subject to theft or robbery. For that, you need comprehensive insurance.
